Nigeria’s fourth-largest telecom operator, 9mobile, has officially rebranded as T2, marking a major transformation in its corporate identity and strategic direction. The change was unveiled at the “Tech Meets Tenacity” launch event in Lagos, where the company introduced a vibrant orange-themed logo and brand style.

Chief Executive Officer, Obafemi Banigbe, said the rebrand represents more than a name change, describing it as a complete reinvention of the company’s operations. “T2 is customer-obsessed, digitally agile, cloud-native, API-enabled, and data-driven,” he said, adding that the focus will be on faster, smarter, and more personalized services.

The move comes a year after Lighthouse Telecoms acquired a 95.5% stake in 9mobile. In recent years, the company’s subscriber base has declined from over 22 million to about 3 million, prompting aggressive strategies to regain market share, including a national roaming partnership with MTN.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who attended the unveiling, urged T2 to match its fresh image with improved service delivery and innovative offerings.

With the rebrand, T2 says it aims to connect deeply with Nigeria’s youthful and creative population, positioning itself as a digital lifestyle brand for entrepreneurs, innovators, and everyday consumers.
