Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has fired back at Senator Orji Uzor Kalu over comments ahead of the 2027 general elections, challenging the former governor to publicly present his polling unit and ward-level results from the last governorship and presidential elections.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti said results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded widespread losses in both the governorship and presidential elections across polling units and wards in Bende Local Government Area during the 2023 polls.
The governor questioned how Senator Kalu could claim to have worked for the President and the APC when the party allegedly lost the presidential election in Kalu’s constituency, despite the senator winning his own election held on the same day.
“This raises serious questions about the credibility of his claims,” the statement said.
Governor Otti further disclosed that four strong aspirants have already indicated interest in contesting the Abia North Senatorial seat on the platform of the Labour Party.
According to the statement, whoever emerges as the party’s candidate from the primaries will enjoy the full backing of the governor to ensure victory in the 2027 senatorial election.
