Governor Chukwuma Soludo has urged citizens and residents of Anambra State to actively support the government’s intensified campaign against fake pastors and other religious impostors operating in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, the governor appealed to the public to come forward with credible information on individuals disguising themselves as clergymen while allegedly engaging in criminal activities.

“The government is calling on Ndi Anambra and all residents of the state with credible information on pastors, churches, or so-called ‘men of God’ involved in criminality, extortion, fraud, deception, or any act that endangers lives and the peace of our communities, to please speak up,” Mefor said.

According to the commissioner, the Soludo administration has developed robust strategies to confront the menace of fake pastors and native doctors directly, as part of a wider initiative to rid the state of criminality and restore order.

Mefor added that the move forms part of the Solution Government’s commitment to sanitising both traditional worship and religious practices across Anambra.

He assured residents that all information received would be handled with the utmost confidentiality to protect those who provide tips.

“Let us work together to take back our state from criminals hiding under religion, culture, and tradition,” the commissioner said.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to immediately stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order on Thursday after ruling that Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The ruling represents a significant development in the contest for the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.

The court’s directive requires Uzodinma to cease presenting himself as the party’s candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District seat, pending the implications of the court’s decision.

The development is expected to generate further political reactions within the APC in Imo State as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

Usman Nuhu, popularly known as Ogbegbe, has appeared in court in Asaba, Delta State, to face charges over the alleged killing of Oghenemine, who reportedly went to collect a waybill at Effurun Roundabout.

During the court proceedings, Ogbegbe, who appeared visibly lean and shaky, denied killing Oghenemine. The court reportedly reminded him that the statements he was making were under oath.

The second defendant, who was charged alongside Ogbegbe, also told the court that the police forced him to admit that he was present when Oghenemine was allegedly killed. He maintained that he was not at the scene when the incident occurred.

The court ordered that Ogbegbe be remanded in prison, while the second to fifth defendants were granted bail.

The other defendants are Onoloko Dauroupamo, Okoh Kelechi, Goodluck Kingsley and Omonigho Ahweyevu.
