The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security Outfit following the brutal assault and public humiliation of a female corps member, Miss Jennifer Elobor.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who described the incident as “barbaric and unacceptable,” directed that the dismissed vigilantes be immediately handed over to law enforcement authorities for prosecution.
According to the state government, the action underscores its zero-tolerance stance on human rights violations and abuse of power by security operatives.
Miss Elobor, a serving corps member, was reportedly assaulted and stripped in public by the vigilantes in what has sparked outrage across social media and condemnation from rights groups.
Governor Soludo assured that the victim will receive full support from the state, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to protecting all residents, especially young people serving under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
