The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly taken former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, into custody over allegations of financial misappropriation amounting to ₦189 billion.

Sources within the anti-graft agency revealed that the ex-governor is being questioned on multiple transactions carried out during his tenure, which investigators believe may have violated public finance regulations.

Tambuwal, who also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, is expected to face further interrogation as the EFCC continues its probe into the alleged diversion of funds.

As of press time, the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest, and representatives of the former governor have not commented on the matter.
