Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has resumed the payment of stipends to widows across Delta State under the Delta State Widows Welfare Scheme.

Between Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17, 2025, beneficiaries from the state’s 270 federal wards received ₦15,000 each, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens.

The initiative, a major component of the Governor’s MORE Agenda, aims to provide sustainable financial support and empowerment to 10,000 widows and their families. In August and September, each beneficiary received ₦45,000, covering stipends for three months.

Speaking on the development, the Coordinator of the Scheme, Elder Isioma Okonta, emphasized that the programme transcends financial assistance.

“It restores dignity and gives hope to widows across the state,” he said.
