Gospel music crusader and businessman, John CDO Ikeotuoye, has alleged that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, once turned down Nigerian football legend, Kanu Nwankwo, when he sought financial assistance for a life-saving heart surgery.

Speaking on the Talk True Podcast, John claimed that Obi bluntly told Kanu he would not commit his personal funds to the medical appeal. According to him, after the refusal, the ex-Super Eagles captain approached former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, who allegedly provided the funds for the surgery.

John further argued that Obi’s recent donations to hospitals were not acts of genuine philanthropy but politically motivated moves tied to his presidential ambition.

“In his words: ‘When Kanu Nwankwo had a heart problem, Peter Obi was one of the first people Kanu approached to pay for his surgery. Peter Obi told him that that is not what he will use his money for. Kanu then came to Lagos State to meet Bola Tinubu, a Yoruba man, and Tinubu paid for his surgery.’
