Reconciliation efforts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have failed, as the faction backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and led by Sen. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) moves to challenge the Court of Appeal judgement that nullified the Ibadan national convention.

The Turaki-led faction has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court and is also seeking an injunction to prevent the faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike from proceeding with its planned national convention.

The Court of Appeal had earlier nullified the PDP national convention held in Ibadan in November 2025, organised by the Makinde-backed faction.

Earlier on Friday, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, confirmed that he held a private meeting with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed a few days ago in a bid to resolve the lingering crisis and unite the aggrieved factions.

However, the meeting ended without success, as Wike insisted that the planned convention must go ahead as scheduled.
