The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday commissioned the fully rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at the Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.
The plant, which had undergone a complete overhaul, is expected to boost the supply of potable water to Abuja residents and strengthen the FCT Administration’s drive to improve infrastructure and essential services.
Speaking during the commissioning, Wike said the project was part of efforts by his administration to ensure reliable access to clean water across the territory. He commended the contractors and engineers for delivering a facility that will serve the needs of Abuja’s growing population.
He added that the FCT Administration would continue to prioritize projects that directly impact the welfare of residents, stressing that access to safe water was a key component of public health and urban development.
The rehabilitation of the Phase 2 plant is also expected to ease pressure on existing water facilities and expand coverage to underserved communities in the FCT.
