The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from comments allegedly made by Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, in which he reportedly declared support for the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC said the remarks attributed to Ogah were made at a Labour Party-organised event in Isuikwuato, where he allegedly stated that despite being a member of the APC, he would support the Labour Party to win the Abia governorship election in 2027.
The party said it was not entirely surprised by the alleged remarks but stressed that it unequivocally dissociates itself and its members from what it described as unacceptable conduct. According to the statement, the comments do not reflect the position, ideals or aspirations of the APC in Abia State.
The APC further revealed that it had earlier suspected Ogah of acting as a “mole” within the party, a development that reportedly led to his suspension from party communication platforms, including official WhatsApp groups and chatrooms.
The party maintained that it remains united and focused under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, and is committed to winning elections at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
Condemning what it described as an anti-party posture, the APC said it would immediately activate its disciplinary mechanisms to investigate the matter and determine appropriate sanctions.
The party also urged its members and residents of Abia State to disregard the alleged comments, insisting that it would not tolerate actions capable of undermining the party’s objectives.
Reaffirming its political ambition, the APC stated that it remains determined to reclaim power in the state and return the seat of government from Nvosi to Umuahia, the state capital.
