Supporters of Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe have dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the aspirant has stepped down from the race for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a press statement issued by his media office, the camp of Igbokwe said the reports suggesting he had withdrawn from the contest were baseless and allegedly aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension ahead of party primaries.
The statement maintained that Igbokwe remains fully in the race and has neither withdrawn nor entered into any agreement to abandon his aspiration. According to his supporters, the politician remains committed to providing quality representation, inclusive leadership, and people-oriented service to the people of the constituency.
The media office also addressed ongoing discussions around equity, zoning, and political balance within the constituency, stating that no official position of the party has declared the House of Representatives seat exclusively zoned to Umuahia North or micro-zoned to Ohuhu, contrary to claims being circulated in some quarters.
The statement further noted that political offices within the constituency have historically rotated among different blocs without conflict, urging stakeholders to uphold democratic values and peaceful political engagement.
Supporters of Igbokwe called on party faithful, delegates, and members of the public to disregard what they described as fake reports and remain focused on issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
