A strong wave of political momentum swept through Eziama Ntighauzor in Obingwa Local Government Area on Friday, May 15, 2026, as businessman, evangelist, philanthropist, and founder of the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, Ambassador Emmanuel Josiah, officially declared his intention to contest for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the Labour Party.
The declaration, which drew a large turnout of supporters and party stakeholders, took place at his country home and quickly transformed into a rallying point for political supporters, community leaders, and grassroots organisations across the constituency.
Ambassador Josiah, in his declaration address, reflected on his personal journey and humanitarian work, stressing that his ambition is rooted in lived experience and a desire to uplift ordinary people rather than personal political gain. He recounted his struggles with poverty, hunger, and lack of opportunities while growing up, noting that those experiences shaped his commitment to service and compassion.
He highlighted the activities of the EVANSINO Humanitarian Foundation, which has been involved in scholarships for students, payment of school fees, medical outreach programmes, sponsorship of surgeries, youth and women empowerment initiatives, provision of boreholes, and other humanitarian interventions across communities within and beyond the constituency.
According to him, his decision to seek a seat in the National Assembly is driven by a desire to bring compassionate, accountable, and people-focused leadership to the federal level. He emphasized that youths deserve opportunities, women deserve empowerment, the elderly deserve care, and every community deserves meaningful development, adding that his vision is to build a constituency where leadership listens and no one is left behind.
The Labour Party Chairman in Obingwa LGA, Hon. Tony Ngwakwe, while speaking at the event, described Evansino as a grassroots-oriented personality whose humanitarian activities have already made visible impact across communities. He noted that through his foundation, farmers, women, children, and youths across Obingwa have benefited significantly.
He further expressed optimism that if given the party’s ticket and eventually elected, Evansino would expand his capacity to serve, adding that his philanthropic background positions him well for public office.
Also speaking, the Mayor of Obingwa LGA, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, described the aspirant as a young man who has consistently impacted lives and demonstrated commitment to community development. He expressed confidence that if elected, he would deliver effective representation to the constituency.
In a brief private interaction, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, who arrived later due to other political engagements, described Evansino as a pleasant personality who has taken a significant step into active politics. He noted that the declaration marks his formal entry into the political space and wished him success in his ambition.
The event attracted a wide range of stakeholders from Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, and Ugwunagbo, including party leaders, youth organisations, community representatives, and political support groups. Among those present were the deputy Mayor of Obingwa LGA, the Secretary to the Local Government, as well as prominent groups such as Abia Arise, Chioma Abia, New Abia Movement, and the Old Obioma Ngwa Concerned Stakeholders, alongside various youth organisations.
The gathering ended on a high note, with renewed political enthusiasm across the constituency as supporters pledged solidarity ahead of the Labour Party primaries.
