The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has said that former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will not secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 general elections.

Arabambi, who spoke while addressing journalists, maintained that the LP would not repeat the approach it adopted in 2023, stressing that the party must field a candidate who represents the collective interests of its members.

According to him, Obi has not fully engaged with the party’s structures since the last election, a development he said weakens the unity of the LP.

“Peter Obi should not expect the Labour Party’s ticket in 2027. The party belongs to all its members, and decisions about its future candidates will reflect the will of the structures across the country,” Arabambi stated.

He added that the party is focused on strengthening its internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls and would support a flagbearer who demonstrates broad commitment to the organisation.

Arabambi’s remarks come at a time when opposition parties are reviewing strategies and potential alignments in preparation for the next general elections.
