Yusuf Buhari, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to make his formal entry into active partisan politics as the All Progressives Congress (APC) preferred candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

This follows his endorsement by major stakeholders of the party in the constituency.

Chairman of Sandamu Local Government Council, Hon. Usman Na’lado, disclosed this after a meeting of stakeholders held at the council secretariat.

He explained that the endorsement was based on Yusuf Buhari’s perceived capacity and wide acceptance by the people of the federal constituency.

Addressing stakeholders, who were mainly elected officials and political appointees from across the constituency, Hon. Na’lado said the decision to support the younger Buhari was unanimous.

He expressed confidence that Yusuf’s candidature would significantly boost the APC’s chances in the 2027 election.

The council chairman added that the endorsement represents a huge boost to efforts aimed at strengthening the party’s unity and growth in the federal constituency.

The stakeholders also endorsed the second-term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda.

However, there are strong indications that the choice of Yusuf Buhari was influenced by Governor Radda.

Informed sources revealed that the governor directed the stakeholders to hand over the APC ticket for the constituency to Yusuf Buhari as a way of appreciating the late President Muhammadu Buhari for his immense contributions to the development of Katsina State.

Meanwhile, Yusuf Buhari is expected to formally announce his intention to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election in the coming days.
